There were a large number of people from the surrounding country assembled near Mr. Skinner's store, watching a game of base ball between the "Gophers" and the "Shoo Flys" for the championship of the county (Brown County). Although the day was exceedingly hot, both clubs appeared on the grounds in good trim, and eager for the contest. After looking around a good deal for an umpire, the game commenced and lasted about two hours, the "Shoo Flys" coming out victorious.
