== Personal == During the 1952 season while playing with the Little Rock Travelers of the Class AA Southern Association, Robinson suffered an arm injury. While recuperating, he was hired as the manager of the Marion (NC) Marauders of the Class D Western Carolina League. At the end of the season, ''The McDowell News'' printed an article which revealed the plans of selected Marion players for the offseason. The article reads in part: ''Manager Frank Robinson plans to return to the University of North Carolina this fall to work toward his degree. Next spring he will return to Little Rock in the Class AA Southern Association provided his sore arm responds to rest treatment''.{{footnote-newspaper | title=Marauders Take Various Jobs In Off-Season | newspaper=The McDowell News | year=1952 | month=September | day=8}} From this account, one might reasonably assume that Robinson pitched collegiately for the University of North Carolina and that possibly he was a North Carolina native. {{person-narrative-stub}}
