Allen (Al) Dudley Van Alstyne is single and lives in Stuyvesant, New York per the 1951 California League Gold Book (Third Edition).  His nationality is Dutch-English.  He graduated from Martin Van Buren High School and played baseball and basketball.  He is a graduate of Saint Lawrence University with a B.S. degree in biology.  He played varsity baseball and basketball at Saint Lawrence University.  His hobby is hunting.  He served 15 months in the U. S. Navy.  His father, Clayton Van Alstyne, pitched for Washington in 1927-1928.  His brother, Clayton Van Alstyne, Jr., is an infielder in the Pittsburgh Pirate organization.
