George Richard Scherger is married and has two children, Teresa Ann age 5 and George Jr. age 2.  He lives in Buffalo, New York per the 1952 California League Gold Book (Fourth Edition).  His nationality is German.  He is a graduate of Saint Joseph Institute in Buffalo in 1940 and played baseball, football and basketball.  He attended Seton Hall College for one year and played baseball and basketball.  He is an electric truck operator during the off-season.  He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps for 37 months.  His biggest thrill was winning 18 straight games last year at Ponca City.
