John Andrew Gilbert is single and lives in Brighton, Massachusetts per the 1952 California League Gold Book (Fourth Edition). He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1945 and played baseball and football. His hobbies are golf and hunting. He served in the U. S. Army for 18 months. He led the 1949 Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York League in strikeouts with 191. He was voted the Most Valuable Player in the 1949 Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York League. He was second in earned run average with 2.81 in the 1950 Canadian-American League.
