John D. Herman is married and lives in San Diego, California per the 1951 California League Gold Book (Third Edition). He graduated from San Diego High School in 1946 and played baseball and basketball. He attends San Diego State College during the off-season and is in his junior year. He played varsity baseball at San Diego State College. He served in the U. S. Navy for 27 months.
