Achievements

  • Appeared in 36 games for Fort Worth in the 1946 Texas League and was taken out only four times; started 29 games and went the distance 26 times.
  • Pitched for an all-star team on Guam with such teammates as Joe Gordon, Howie Pollet, Tex Hughson, Birdie Tebbets and Red Ruffing helping him with his pitching.
  • Was named to the Texas League all-star teams in 1946, 1948 and 1949.

Outside of baseball

  • Went into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943 and remained there until 1945.
