• Resided in Sacramento, California in 1952 and 1953.
• Listed hobbies as hunting and golf in 1952, hunting and fishing in 1953.
• Self-identified as being of German-Irish-English ancestry.
• Said in 1952 that winning 24 games for Sacramento in the 1945 Pacific Coast League was his greatest thrill.
• His younger brother, Van Fletcher, also played in the minors.

• Graduated from Yadkinville, North Carolina High School.
• Was a "baseball standout" in high school.
• Earned a B.S. from the University of North Carolina.
• Won letters in baseball at the University of North Carolina.

• Led the 1945 Pacific Coast League in shutouts with 7.
• Was second in the 1945 Pacific Coast League in ERA with 2.33.
• Tied for the lead in the 1949 Pacific Coast League in games won with 23, complete games with 26 and shutouts with 5.

• Was a merchant during the off-season in 1952, and a rancher in 1953.
