Jules (Julie, Rube) Verne Hudson is single and lives in El Reno, Oklahoma per the 1949 California League Gold Book. He graduated from El Reno High School in 1948 and played football, baseball and basketball. He pitched his high school team to the regional and district championships in baseball. He will attend college during the off-season. His hobby is music. He played amateur ball for Manhattan, Kansas in the Ban Johnson League. He led the 1948 Far West League in strikeouts with 237 in 167 innings. This total is even more impressive when it is considered that Hudson did not join the club until five weeks after the start of the season.
