  • The Midwest League played a 130 game, two-division, split-season schedule which began on April 20 and ended on August 29. The first half ended on June 23.
  • An All-Star Game was played on July 22 between a Midwest League All-Star team and the American Association's Iowa Oaks; the MWL Stars won by a 3-2 score after 13 innings[1].
  • A two-tier championship playoff was held, with the best-of-three championship round won by Danville.
  • Total 1974 attendance: 557,272.
