Location: | Abilene, TX (US) |
McMurry University competed in the Texas Incollegiate Athletic Conference from 1976 to its dissolution in 1996. In 1997, they joined the American Southwest Conference (Division III). McMurry is currently petitioning the NCAA to be reclassified from Division III to Division II.
McMurry was without a mascot from 2006 to 2011 due to NCAA mandate requiring colleges to drop their use of Native Americans symbols in all branding and logos.
Walt Driggers Field, home to the McMurry baseball team, has host two NCAA Division III West Regionals since it was opened in 1997. Driggers Field will host the 2011 NCAA Division III West Regional in mid-May.
