  • Won three letters each in baseball, basketball and football and one in track in high school.
  • Attended Kent State University but did not graduate.
  • Was adjudged the most outstanding amateur baseball player in Ohio in 1937.

Achievements

  • Led the 1939 Middle Atlantic League in two base hits with 42.
  • Tied for the lead in stolen bases with 40 in the 1947 Pacific Coast League.
  • Led the 1948 Pacific Coast League in runs scored with 133.

Outside of baseball

  • Is in the insurance business during the off-season.
