Pre-professional career
- Played both baseball and basketball at Saint Louis University.
- Member of the 1949 NIT Championship basketball team.
Outside of baseball
- Played professional basketball for St. Louis, Chicago, and Washington.
- In 1952, he went on tour with the United States All-Stars, playing games around the globe against the Harlem Globetrotters.
- Began working for Washington and Lee University in 1959; served in many capacities, including soccer coach, baseball coach, and assistant basketball coach.
