Real name is James Edgar Port Born - December 30, 1886 - Huntingdon, Pennsylvania Died - September 24, 1953 - Oteen, North Carolina Lived in Huntingdon, Pa. in the 1900, 1910, & WWI draft registration. Lived in Altoona, Pa. in the 1930 census. Lived in Hunt, Pa. in the WWII registration. Death Certificate and Pennsylvania Veterans Burial Card available online through Ancestory.com. Was in the military during WWI, James was with the U.S. Navy from June 8, 1918 to April 14, 1919. Sources - Pa. Vet. Burial Card and the Alumni Society of the University of Pennsylvania. Attended U. of Pa. from 1906 to 1910. No degree. Sporting Life issues dated Mar. 13, 1909, May 15, 1909, June 5, 1909 Sept. 4, 1909, and Apr. 24, 1911 all state that he attended U. of Pa.. Even the photo of the U. of Pa. Varsity Baseball Team for 1908 has his name listed as Porte.
