The Marion Marauders were a Class D minor league baseball team based in Marion, North Carolina. The 1952 Marauders compiled a record of 60-50 in the six-team Western Carolina League and finished the season in third place, 11 1/2 games behind the first place Lincolnton Cardinals. Marion was swept in the first round of the playoffs by Lincolnton.[1]

The Marauders were an independent team, as were most lower-level minor league teams in 1952, and had no working agreement with a major league team. Only one player on the roster was under contract to a major league team: James Frank Callihan, a pitcher who was signed to a professional contract by the St. Louis Browns and assigned to Marion.

The team played its home games at Marion High School Field.

An official team picture was published on page 5 of the September 1, 1952 edition of The McDowell News.

Second baseman Bob Davis was voted by fans as Marion's Most Popular Player. Davis, along with pitcher Junior Begemann, first baseman Bill Smith, and outfielder Jack Falls were selected by league sports writers, broadcasters, and managers to the league All-Star Team.
