One of 35 invited to compete in US Army High School All-American Game in Albuquerque. 2007 Johnny Bench Award winner (top collegiate catcher). Recipient of the Ferriss Trophy (top collegiate player in Mississippi). First team All-SEC, All-America team honors from American Baseball Coaches Association (Rawlings), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (Pro-Line Athletics), Collegiate Baseball, and Rivals.com. Siged by Arizona Diamondsbacks as sandwich selection between first and second rounds of 2007 draft.
