  • The Midwest League played a 126 game, split-season schedule which began on May 4 and ended on September 3. The first half ended on July 4 (all teams played Independence Day double headers; the first game was counted in the first half, the nightcap started the second half).
  • No All-Star game was played.
  • A single round best of five playoff series was played, with Waterloo crowned champion.
    • Kokomo, with the league's best overall won-lost record, did not qualify for the championship playoff, which was played between half-season champions Waterloo and Michigan City.
