  • Resided in Franklin, New Jersey in 1952.
  • Shows he was born on January 26, 1930.
  • Said he would "always remember" his first time at bat in the majors when he was sent up as a pinch hitter on September 18, 1949 against the Saint Louis Cardinals in Saint Louis and not only was he called out on strikes but he argued so furiously with the umpire that he also was ejected from the game.
  • In 1949, he played in the first minor league game ever staged at Doubleday Field at Cooperstown, New York and hit two home runs.

Achievements

  • Led the 1946 Georgia-Florida League in batting average with .328, doubles with 34 and triples with 18.
