The Boston Evening Transcript, Sept. 22, 1858, reports that the Olympic of Boston will play the Warren of Roxbury Friday (Sept. 24th) "upon the latter's ground, near Way's Woods, Roxbury..." The Boston Journal, April 18, 1867: headline "Roxbury Base Ball." Announces the annual meeting of the Bay State BBC of Roxbury.
Roxbury MA (1860 pop. about 25,000, the 34th largest US city then ) is about 3.5 miles SW of downtown Boston.
