The NY Mercury July 15, 1860 reports that the Benicia of South Danvers, MA, played the Franklin of Salem, MA on the 7th inst., with Benicia winning 43-40. The "Benicia" name was probably inspired by a noted boxer known as the "Benicia Boy."
