Nickname Clackamas Base Ball Club

"Base Ball in Oregon." . . . There is also a club at Oregon City called the Clackamas Club."

Charles Peverelly, The Book of American Pastimes, page 497.

Information gleaned from articles in Portland's Morning Oregonian:

  • Oct 15 article: The Clackamas club formed after the Pioneer club. This would place their formation no earlier than June, as the Pioneer club elected officers on June 2, 1866. (June 5 article)
  • Sep 24 article: The Clackamas club obviously formed before an intrasquad match on September 22, 1866. Their first match against the Pioneer club was played 3 weeks later.
