James Thomas Bowers nationality is English-Irish.  He is single and his home is in Lomita, California as shown in the 1952 Pioneer League Index.  He graduated from Narbonne High School in 1951 where he played baseball and basketball.  He attended Harbor Junior College.  He is an oil worker during the off-season.  His most unusual experience in baseball was changing over from a first baseman to a catcher.  His brother, Kyle Bowers, is a pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system.
