{{person-narrative-stub}} When the clocks are striking 9 all over the city this morning John Barnes, manager of the St. Paul base ball team, will sacrifice beneath the razor's edge his brown mustache, which has of late assumed proportions that at once attract attention. Mr. Barnes will do this to "hoodoo" the game. In nine days his nine men have but once beaten their opponents, and the agony can be endured no longer. Something must be done, and so at 9 this morning this desperate attempt will be made to change the luck. {{footnote-newspaper | title=To Change The Luck | newspaper=St. Paul Daily Globe | year=1887 | month=08 | day=05 | pages=5 | last= | first= | url=http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn90059522/1887-08-05/ed-1/seq-6/ }}
