Mariano Rivera is a star relief pitcher for the Yankees who began his career with them in 1995 and blossomed into a relief star in 1996. He has been their closer since 1997, and is considered one of the greatest closers of all-time. As a set-up man in 1996, Rivera yielded only one home run in 107 2/3 innings - to Baltimore's Rafael Palmeiro.
