• Self-identified as Mexican.
• Started in 1948 with Tampico of the Mexican League.
• In his first game he defeated Monterrey 5-1.

• Attended high school one year.
• Played football, soccer and golf in high school.
• During the winter months he plays baseball.

• Led the 1951 Southwest International League in strikeouts with 318 and earned run average of 2.52.
• Tied for the lead in pitching the most shutouts with 5 in the 1952 Pacific Coast League.
