• Hit a home run, triple, double and single in five times at bat against thr Saint Louis Browns on May 5, 1939 and had two home runs in four appearances the next day.
• Led the 1940 American League batters in strikeouts with 96.
• Tied for the lead in double plays by an outfielder with 5 in the 1950 American League.
• Tied the American League record for oufielders by making 400 or more putouts in a season for four years in 1950; record also held by Sam West and Dom DiMaggio.
