Sam Gibson pitched very well in 1926 and 1927 with Detroit. After that he was ineffective and spent the better part of his professional career in the minors. Sam became a fixture and some what of a legend with the San Franciso Seals. In 1931 he led the Pacific Coast League with 28 wins and would eventually win 20 games 6 times in the PCL. As a sidearm-submarine style pitcher he pitched until he was 47 ending his career with 307 minor league victories.
