- He was born in Geneva, New York on 1935-01-19. His grandfather, Frank Dwyer settled there after attending Hobart College in town
- His first manager, in Jamestown, was Tony Lupien, who was a 1B for the Red Sox in the 40s.
- He hurt his arm before the 1958 season, which is why he played less games that year.
