Error: The Encyclopedia lists two nicknames for my grandfather, Ray Fisher: "Pick" and "Chic". I specifically asked him about these nicknames since "Chic" was listed in all the baseball encyclopedias. He told me that "Chic" had never been his nickname and he did not know how the error had originated. I later contacted most of the major encyclopedias (back in the 1980's) and got the error corrected.
"Pick" was his real nickname, dating to college.
I later traced the "Chic" error to a newspaper report from his debut NL appearance in 1910.
