- Hit .320in the fast 1951 Oakland Athletic League and was named on the All City team.
- Hit .422 with the American Legion Post in his home town in his first year, .520 the second year and .480 the third year.
- Hit .380 for a semi-pro team in Oakland in 1951.
- During the winter of 1951 he held a .435 average in the Alameda loop.
