The Birmingham Iron Age, June 4, 1879, reports the Dunham Base Ball Club of that city was recently organized. They’ve already challenged any other Birmingham club.

Birmingham's current population of about 1.1 million makes it the largest city in Alabama. The city was only founded in 1871, and a population of about 3000 is reported in 1880.
