The Juneau "Daily Alaska Dispatch" January 12, 1909: "Valdez has also suffered from an attack of baseball fever..." The baseball team evidently created a ball diamond last year, and are now raising funds to improve it. Same March 31, 191: "The Valdez baseball team has reorganized..."
Valdez AK (1910 pop. about 800) is about 150 miles E of Anchorage.
