As reported by the Arkansas Morning Republican on June 11th, 1868:
"Tuesday afternoon quite a few spectators assembled on the practice grounds of the Rock City B. B. C. to witness a match game between the Dixie and Military Base Ball Clubs. The play was to commence at half past three o'clock, but for some unaccountable reason, the Dixie nine failed to appear, and after waiting half an hour beyond that time, the Military nine offered to play the field, in order to give some satisfaction to those who had come to the grounds expecting to see the match. A nine was picked up upon from the field and the boys "got to work" with the following results:
Military: 24 Field: 23"
Note that the Rock City Grounds were located at the "head of Scott Street" in Little Rock.
