San Francisco Daily Evening Bulletin, Oct. 30, 1869: "Los Angeles, October 29: The Energetics of this city and the St. Vincent's College Baseball Clubs are to play a game soon for the championship."
Same Nov. 9, 1869 says the Energetics won this game 25 to 20.
Same, Nov. 15, 1869: "Los Angeles.... Another base-ball club, the California, has been organized."
Same, July 18, 1870 mentions the Phoenix BBC of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles CA (1870 population about 5,700) is about 2800 miles SW of Hoboken.
