The Daily Miners Register [Central City, CO] July 17, 1867 reports on a contest between the newly organized Black Hawk, CO team and the team of Central City. The game was played in Black Hawk (a town adjacent to Central City) on "Bobtail Hill" "last Saturday." It was called after two innings wth Central City leading 37 to 1. The article notes that the majority of Black Hawk players "had enver played the game" before. Same, July 4, 1867, notes that base ball had been played that day during the 4th of July celebration in Central City.
Central City CO (1860 pop. about 600;1870 pop. about 2,400) is about 35 miles W of Denver.
