The Marietta Journal, October 16, 1868, mentions a game Tuesday afternoon (the 13th) between the “Southern Stars” of Capt. Gable and the “Kennesaw” of Capt. Nutting, won by the latter.

Marietta GA (1870 population about 1900 souls) is about 20 miles NW of Atlanta.
