"Although the first real push for baseball in Germany began just before the 1936 Berlin Games, the sport's inaugural game, according to the American press, occurred in 1909 at the Botanical Garden Parks in Berlin, rote the New York Times on 19 September 1909. The full staffs of the American Embassy and Coinsulate General were in attendance."
