The Boise "Idaho Statesman", March 28, 1868

Transcription: BASE BALL.-A base ball club was organized in this city on Wednesday evening; and the following officers elected: E. Rayner, president; Wm. Kelly, secretary; G. Dimer, treasurer. Pioneer base ball club, we have no doubt, will be a success as a means of amusement and healthful exercise, and perhaps of bloody noses, disjointed thumbs and cracked shins. [Idaho Statesmen, Boise, Idaho; Volume IV, Issue 105, Page 2.]

Historical Note: E. Rayner is listed as a founding member of the Capital Base Ball Club, formed July 8th, 1869, in Boise, ID. Rayner worked with or for the Idaho Territory Legislative Council in 1868-69, serving as Assistant Secretary and Clerk, according to the records of the Idaho Legislative Assembly.
