The Lewiston "Idaho Signal" June 14, 1873 notes the "First Idaho Base Ball Club" of Fort Lapwai challenges the She-me-ne-kem BBC of Lewiston to visit them on the 4th for a match game. The Owyhee Avalanche of Ruby City, April 12, 1873, notes that the She-me-ne-kem BBC of Lewiston and the Lapwai BBC "played their first match at the latter place, March 26th, resulting in a vicgtory for the Lewiston boys."
Lapwai (current pop. about 1,100) is near Lewiston on the Idaho panhandle and about 100 miles NE of Walla Walla WA.
