The Daily Iowa State Register Oct. 18, 1866 reports on a state base ball tournament, involving the following clubs: Burlington Crescent, Mechanics, Orchard City and Westerns; Scott Club of Davenport; Hawkeyes of Mt. Pleasant; and the Actives of Ottumwa.
Davenport IA (1860 pop. about 11,200; 1870 pop. about 20,000)is on the Mississippi River and about 150 miles west of Chicago.
