The Daily Iowa State Register Oct. 18, 1866 reports on a state base ball tournament, involving the following clubs: Burlington Crescent, Mechanics, Orchard City and Westerns; Scott Club of Davenport; Hawkeyes of Mt. Pleasant; and the Actives of Ottumwa.
Mt. Pleasant IA (1860 pop. about 3,500; 1870 pop, about 4,200)is in the eastern part of the state. It is about 25 miles NW of Burlington IA, which is on the Mississippi River.
