"On Thursday last the Eclipse Base Ball Club - which, by the way, is a Club of no mean consequence - divided itself for the purpose of having a little game between its married and its single members. A large number of persons, of both sexes, were in attendance, and despite the excessively hot weather, seemed to enjoy the sport hugely. The Benedicks, of course, were victorious."
Louisville was the 12th largest US city in 1860, with a population of about 68,000.
