Paper of date below reported the score (with runs and outs for each player) of a game played the previous Wednesday (June 5) between the Gopher State Base Ball Club and the Rochester Base Ball Club. The Gopher State Club won 39-22.
note: a number of challenges between these two teams were noted in the Rochester Post at least a month earlier but this is the first game with a recorded score. So it is quite likely that both clubs were organized previous to May 1867.
