Base Ball at Owatonna -- The second game between the Base Ball Clubs of Rochester and Owatonna was commenced at the latter place on Tuesday afternoon, but owing to a prevailing rain storm, only three innings were played and the game was postponed until tomorrow at the same place. The score at the close of the third innings stood Owatonna 16 to Rochester 8. In one of the innings the Rochester Club was "whitewashed" which signifies that they did not make a single count or tally. Tomorrow the clubs will finish the remaining six innings. This is the second game between these clubs; the first having been played at Rochester, in which the club of that city came off victorious.......article continues (Winona Daily Republican, July 25, 1867)
Rochester Post of July 6th gives a long account of the first game at Rochester on July 4th; Rochester 50 and Owatonna 48.
Owatonna population: 609 (1860); 2,070 (1870); 3,161 (1880)....high of 25,599 in 2010.
