The Orangeburg Times, Aug. 28, 1872 reports the Palmetto club of Branchville played the Orange base ball club at Orangeburg Monday afternoon.
Orangeburg SC (1870 pop. about 250)is about 40 miles S or Columbia SC. Branchville SC (current pop. about 1000) is about 15 miles S of Orangeburg and about 65 miles NW of Charleston.
In 1876, the Aurora Base Ball Club of Orangeburg played at Camden SC.
