Career highlights
- Earned first professional win against the GCL Pirates on July 31, 1990.
Pre-professional career
- Played baseball, football and basketball at Kings Mountain High School in Kings Mountain, NC.
- Played for Kings Mountain High School on the 1989 NCHSAA 3A state champion baseball team and was named to the NC All-State team by the Greensboro News and Record.
- Signed to play baseball at the University of Evansville prior to signing a pro contract.

- Graduated from Anderson College (Anderson, SC) in 1995 and earned a graduate degree from Webster University (St. Louis, MO) in 1999.
Transactions
- Signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Braves on June 18, 1990, by scout Roy Clark.
- Signed six year minor league uniform player contract with the Braves on March 8, 1991.
- Reported to spring training(1991) in West Palm Beach but did not pitch due to shoulder injury.
- Released from contract by the Braves on October 15, 1991 after ongoing shoulder injuries.
