Aubrey Gatewood was a professional player.

edit

  • Was selected by the Los Angeles Angels from Detroit in the $75,000 player draft in December 1960. One year later was drafted by the New York Mets from Dallas-Fort Worth (in the rule 5 draft, not the expansion draft[1]), making him one of the few involved in the player selection for the expansion of both major leagues[2].
  • Was returned to the Angels organization in April 1962.[2]

Footnotes

  1. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gatewau01.shtml, retrieved on 2009-12-21. The 1962 South Atlantic League Player Index incorrectly asserts that Gatewood was the only player involved in both expansions, but Bobby Shantz was not only involved in both, but actually selected in both expansion drafts.
