- Played baseball, football, golf, and wrestling in high school.
- Played American Legion ball.
- Attended one-half year at Illinois on a football scholarship.
Achievements
- Second in batting in the 1936 Nebraska State League.
- Led the 1939 East Texas League and the 1951 South Atlantic League in batting.
- Named all-star catcher in the 1939 East Texas League, the 1940 Middle Atlantic League, the 1942 Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League, and the 1951 South Atlantic League.
Coaching and Managing
- Coach with 1954 Rochester Red Wings and 1955 Rochester Red Wings.[1]
