Pre-professional career

• Played baseball, football, golf, and wrestling in high school.
• Played American Legion ball.
• Attended one-half year at Illinois on a football scholarship.

Achievements

• Second in batting in the 1936 Nebraska State League.
• Led the 1939 East Texas League and the 1951 South Atlantic League in batting.
• Named all-star catcher in the 1939 East Texas League, the 1940 Middle Atlantic League, the 1942 Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League, and the 1951 South Atlantic League.

Coaching and Managing

• Coach with 1954 Rochester Red Wings and 1955 Rochester Red Wings.^[1]
• Coach with 1955 St. Louis.
• Coach with 1956 Toronto, 1957 Toronto, 1958 Toronto and 1959 Toronto.
• Replaced Bobby Morgan as manager of 1966 Tidewater on July 24 with team in fifth place.
• Replaced Bob Wellman as manager of 1970 Eugene on June 25 with team in third place.
• Scout for Philadelphia, 1962, 1964-73; camp supervisor for 1974 Philadelphia.

Outside of baseball

• Served in the US Navy, 1943-44.
