Red Ormsby was a professional player and Major League umpire.

- After retiring as an umpire, Ormsby worked as a scout for the White Sox from 1945 to 1949; he was also a Sergeant with the Chicago Police[1].
- Ormsby and his wife, Helen, had twelve children. In 1941 he was selected as National Father of the Year by The National Fathers Day Foundation[2].
- Ormsby was a World War I veteran. An injury received during this service eventually forced his retirement from umpiring[3].
